About Us

St. Pete Primary is an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) school in the Old Northeast neighborhood of St. Petersburg, Florida. Formerly known as First Presbyterian Day School, we have been offering quality early childhood education in our community for 54 years. We became an independent school in 2020 and now offer an elementary program in addition to our treasured preschool program. Our philosophy in education is to provide an exceptional play-based academic and faith centered environment for our students and to meet the needs of our growing St. Petersburg community.

As we grow, we are working towards enriching our fine arts programming, expanding our play-based curriculum, making improvements to our buildings and playgrounds, enhancing technology in our elementary classrooms, and providing quality professional development for our teachers that will directly impact our students. We are also committed to making our school accessible and affordable for families throughout the community through our school’s scholarship program, and to ensuring our staff and teachers are compensated appropriately for their incredible work and dedication to the students and families we serve.
